A downloadable game

Rifle Warrior

Lusting after superhumanity, a cult summoned an entertainer from the depths of Hell and onto West Bascrook, wreaking havoc on the once peaceful suburban community. Join Wilton, armed with her trusty rifle, in Rifle Warrior – an upcoming free (as in price and freedom), open-source, and open-content manic shooter for Windows and Linux – as she embarks on an adventure to save her hometown from his influence.

Planned Scope and Features

  • Rifle Warrior does not have any different difficulty levels.
  • The campaign is linear and consists of multiple levels. Four levels are planned.
  • Wilton would automatically aim at nearby enemies and the enemy you are currently shooting at. Focusing locks aim onto an enemy, no matter the distance.
  • Customizable keyboard and controller controls.

Availability

  • Rifle Warrior is only available in an invite-only private alpha, but a public beta is planned for the foreseeable future. If you are interested in testing Rifle Warrior, add JumboSizedFish (jumbosizedfish) on Discord.
  • To avoid cluttering the downloads on this page, source code and assets would be downloadable on a separate page on itch.io. Source code would be available during the public beta, and the asset pack would be on release.
  • Rifle Warrior would also be officially available on IndieDB upon release.
  • Original assets would also be available on OpenGameArt and Freesound upon release.
  • Original characters, including Wilton herself, are available for public use.

Advisory

  • Flashing and repetitive patterns present in Rifle Warrior may potentially cause seizures for those with photosensitive epilepsy.
  • Rifle Warrior features cartoon violence with and without guns.
  • Rifle Warrior is a work of fiction and only the result of the author's imagination.

Copyright

Rifle Warrior is copyfree and mostly dedicated to the public domain via the CC0 1.0 Universal waiver. Binaries, source code, and code examples in documentation remain copyrighted and are available under the BSD 2-Clause + Patent license.

Questions?

  1. What could I abbreviate Rifle Warrior as? RW.
  2. Why "Rifle Warrior?" It's a lazy rename of a former title.
  3. When would it be available? Likely sometime in 2026.
  4. What language(s) would it be in? English.
  5. What is the production scope of Rifle Warrior? It's modest as this is my first major project with Love2D.
  6. Would you do a squeal next or in the future? Probably.
  7. Is Rifle Warrior in the public domain? Mostly, as only the binaries and source code are copyrighted. Rifle Warrior is not a fully public domain work and not public domain software.
  8. Does Rifle Warrior have any political and/or religious themes and messages? Not really, as I primarily want to make an enjoyable game.
  9. I noticed that you listed Scratch as a used tool. Scratch is only used for graphics.
  10. I noticed that you listed BSD 2-Clause, not BSD 2-Clause + Patent. Itch.io doesn't list the latter as a selectable license.
